Christmas Tree by Christian Dior

9:14 PM / Posted by fauzan masykur / comments (3)

The story behind this is that Christian Dior’s creative director, designer John Galliano was asked to come up with a Christmas decoration that will become this holiday’s symbol for the hotel. Now it is possible that people did not expect to see a common Christmas tree in the hallways, but the final result was an absolute surprise. You should also know that this is said to be the first time in the brand’s history when Christian Dior is willing to collaborate in order to create Christmas decorations. And for this time we would like to make an experiment: we will refrain from any opinions on the design and let you give us your honest opinion.

His inspiration comes from his daughter’s obsession with the color pink. The photoshooot includes rooms of other like minded kids who share a passion for either pink or blue. It is pretty safe to say that not every kid or parent can/want to emulate these, but here goes the snaps anyway

Raining And Shine

The house called Rainwater is a complex composition of four simple volumes — residence, guest house, office, garage — each capped with a planar steel roof rakishly tilted to channel water down to a single cantilevered corner.

The divergent roof planes almost intersect, and the volumes converge into a single coherent element. But the singularity is elusive. No matter where you stand — above, on either side, or below — you never see the same combination of house, or, for that matter, the entire house. At least one of the volumes, one of the rooftops, is always hidden, just around a corner.

Respecting the Hillside

"We felt it would be good to have a subdued presence from the front," says Eimar Boesjes, an architectural software developer and Internet entrepreneur. "It doesn't say 'we're here!' like the other houses."

Boesjes collaborated on the design and construction of this, their own house, with his wife, landscape designer Anita Van Asperdt.

Although innovative in form and ambitious in size (5,000 square feet, or 465 square meters), Rainwater manages to avoid subverting the Craftsman theme of Moonshadow Lane, a densely built cul-de-sac in the forested South Hills of Eugene, Oregon.

The house is modest to its oversized neighbors, peeking over a shoulder at the street from its perch on a sloped, pie-shaped infill lot that drops into a mature stand of Douglas fir then merges with a protected open space area deeded to remain undeveloped.

Modular Hexagons of Light

9:24 AM / Posted by fauzan masykur / comments (0)

A wild and fun concept for a home where you’re looking to mix up the lighting scheme, designers Helen Evans and Heiko Hansen have developed Light Brix, a modular light system for any space. Activated by touch, Light Brix can be arranged in a number of sequences to create a dynamic atmosphere with soft white light. The images they provided were interestingly arranged on wall surfaces, but I think that Light Brix may have another calling as floor accents in bedrooms or interior walkways and hallways. Imagine lighting a space with a low ceiling with Light Brix by reaching up to turn on a sequence of lighting, or image integrating Light Brix creatively into a children’s room (particularly kids who enjoy interactive toys). Just think about it.

2009 Shige Hasegawa’s “Hana” Set

The designers at Shige Hasegawa Design in Tokyo have developed this interesting, nature-inspired table and lamp set which is designed to focus in on a sense of tranquility and inspiration through simplicity. ‘Hana’ actually means flower in Japanese, which is pretty clearly the inspiration for these products: first, the Hana table, inspired by origami, is constructed from five flower pedal-shaped plywood legs which collectively hold up the glass table top without the use of additional screws or bolts. Second, those with a green thumb and a good sense of style will fall in love with this unassuming, graceful lamp design. The charming, fabric-covered lamp design, Hana Stretch, is subtle and stylish and would make a great addition to a simplistic atmosphere in dire need of creative mood lighting.
